The 2013 Synergy young artist in residence is announced!

We are pleased to announce william cedar jackson is the 2013 synergy young artist in residence.

 

William is the founding artistic director of young percussion collective, nomad percussion. In 2012 the group appeared at the you are here festival, the canberra festival, a live-broadcast performance for the make music new york festival and in a concert curated by fritz hauser/synergy percussion. William has studied with Daryl Pratt and with gary france at the australian national university. His solo credits include performances on the sydney opera house stage and midwest band and orchestra clinic in chicago in 2007. he regularly performs with the canberra symphony orchestra, the sydney sinfonia and australian youth orchestra. As a chamber musician he has appeared at the canberra international music festival in 2011/2012, and been the artistic director of numerous independent chamber music productions (nomad percussion, drumatix retrospective).

Our young artist program is synergy's most intense mentorship. a young percussionist of significant talent and enthusiasm joins the group for a year to rehearse, perform and learn. since 2006 the alumni have gone on to make significant contributions to the music scene, and several have subsequently joined the ensemble.

Previous Young Artists in Residence include: Tim Bridgen (2010), Joshua Hill (2009), Bree van reyk (2005), Timothy Constable (2003), Alison Pratt, Phillip South, David Hewitt, Alison Low Choy, Kevin Man, Claire Edwardes and Jeremy Barnett.
